About Me

Hi! My name is Cristina Colquhoun and I have devoted my life to ensuring that all students, regardless of circumstances, have access to the quality education that they deserve.

My career began as a middle school science teacher in Miami-Dade County, Florida through Teach for America. It is there in room 204 that my love for all things teaching, learning, and curriculum design began. Thanks to the two years of full time training and coaching in the tenets of curriculum planning, backward design, classroom leadership, teaching methods, and data tracking, I moved on to become a curriculum specialist for two different public schools in low-income communities in South Florida. I loved, loved, loved my time in the public school system and got to witness firsthand how students' lives can be placed on a new trajectory through the power of amazing teachers who invest in them and through the implementation of effectively designed curriculum.

From there, I dove into the world of instructional design and eLearning. I have spent years honing in and learning my craft by reading, reading, and reading some more; becoming a member of several professional organizations; attending industry conferences; collaborating with those who know way more than me; and taking on projects that forced me to learn past my limits. I also obtained my master's degree in Educational Technology from the wonderful Oklahoma State University (Go Pokes!).

When I'm not instructional designing, I immensely enjoy hanging out with my husband, Ryan, and our dog children, Ella & Penny. I also love spending time with our family in Florida, especially our two perfect nieces, whenever we get the chance. Other than that, you can usually find me reading, traveling, or crafting.
